The Canary Islands will experience a weather change this Sunday with increased cloud cover, light rain, and a drop in temperatures, according to the State Meteorological Agency, Aemet.
The day will start off with cloudy spells, turning overcast in several regions. Light rain is likely in the northern mid-altitude areas, particularly in the north-east during the morning, with possible showers in southern mid-altitude regions later in the afternoon.
Temperatures are expected to fall in higher-altitude areas but remain stable elsewhere, with highs of around 29°C in Tenerife and lows of 18°C on El Hierro.
Northeasterly winds will pick up at times, especially on the south-eastern slopes and in the far north-west of the islands, but they will generally be light over the central mountains.
In the northern part of the archipelago, Gran Canaria will see the most cloud, with light rain anticipated in mid-altitude zones during the early morning. The rest of the islands will have more stable weather, with mostly clear skies reported.
Mountain areas will feel the temperature drop, while lower regions will see little change. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach around 28°C in Lanzarote, with minimum figures around 23°C in Fuerteventura.
Despite the forecast of light rain, this marks a significant shift from the recent hot and dry conditions experienced, especially in the higher and northern parts of the islands.
