The Canary Islands are forecast to see a gradual shift in weather conditions on Thursday, 29 October, with temperatures expected to drop in various regions and light rain likely to return to some areas of the archipelago.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) predicts a mix of high and low cloud cover, occasional showers, and a slight decrease in temperatures, especially in inland, western, and southern locations. While warm conditions will start to fade, light calima, or suspended Saharan dust, may persist, potentially affecting visibility. Maximum temperatures could drop moderately, particularly away from coastal areas.

Temperatures across the islands will range from a high of 27°C in Tenerife to a low of 17°C in El Hierro, with generally light winds, though gustier conditions are possible at higher elevations in Tenerife.

In Tenerife, high cloud will dominate throughout the day, with low cloud mainly present in the north during early morning and evening. Increased cloud cover may result in occasional rainfall, particularly in inland areas, but Aemet does not expect widespread or continuous showers.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is predicted to reach around 27°C, with variable light winds primarily from the coast and stronger gusts at mountain peaks in the late afternoon.

Gran Canaria will also see changing conditions, with considerable cloud cover and possible light, scattered rain, particularly in the afternoon. Temperatures in Las Palmas are expected to range from 22°C to 25°C, with light winds and coastal breezes.

Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will experience cloud cover throughout Thursday, especially low cloud in the mornings and evenings. Light calima is also expected, but without significant intensification.

Overall, while temperatures are starting to cool, especially in inland areas, the shift is gradual rather than abrupt. Amet’s forecast suggests the end of the recent heat could take some time, with the continuation of light calima further delaying clear skies.

Wind conditions will remain calm across much of the archipelago, with light variable winds in coastal areas, while mountain peaks may experience stronger gusts.

In summary, Thursday’s weather forecast for the Canary Islands indicates a transition to slightly cooler and more unsettled conditions, particularly in inland areas, along with potential showers in Tenerife and Gran Canaria, but with milder temperatures still predominant across the region.
