The Yaiza Council has granted a total of €124,750 in transport subsidies for the 2025-2026 academic year to 117 university and higher education students from the municipality.
Of the recipients, 98 students studying at universities outside Lanzarote will each receive €1,200, an increase from the €900 offered in previous years. Those studying online or in Lanzarote will receive €350, while students in higher education studying outside the island will get €500, and those studying in Lanzarote will receive €300.
These subsidies are available to Spanish or EU students who reside in Yaiza and are enrolled in either public or private educational institutions.
Yaiza Mayor Óscar Noda stated that the increase in funds aims to support families with children studying away from Lanzarote. The Council has also raised the subsidy for higher education students studying off the island by €150.
Education Councillor Silvia Santana noted that the final list of beneficiaries and their respective amounts is available on the municipal website.
