Manu Fuster, a forward for UD Las Palmas, believes the key to success in their upcoming match against Cádiz CF will be neutralising the opponent’s wing play. The game is set for Saturday, and Fuster emphasises the need for an improved performance after two disappointing matches against Girona and Leganés.
Having faced Cádiz during pre-season—where Las Palmas won convincingly in the Trofeo Carranza—Fuster feels they have a clearer strategy heading into this clash. “One of the keys will be to defend their wing play. They create many crosses and have players who combine effectively on the flanks, which we need to manage,” he noted in a press conference on Wednesday.
Fuster has started all four matches so far but was substituted each time. He pointed out that the team’s form in LaLiga Hypermotion has been inconsistent, featuring strong moments alongside weaker stretches, particularly in their last two games which ended without a win.
He acknowledged that the team’s attacking play “has not been the best,” explaining they struggled against Leganés, who defended with numerous players behind the ball. However, Fuster remains optimistic about adapting to the current tactical demands imposed by their coach, Rubén de la Barrera, stating that progress will come over time.
He also remarked on the impact of injuries, highlighting that not only are they missing long-term absentees, but players like Sandro Ramírez, Iván Jaime, and Enrique Clemente are still struggling with other issues.
