New Caravan Service Launched in Tenerife’s La Guancha
Tenerife’s Cabildo has recently launched a public caravan service at the Logistics Centre in La Guancha, marking the first free facility of its kind in the northern part of the island. This new service provides essential waste disposal and potable water access for caravans, joining three other existing facilities in Arona and Santa Cruz.
Local authorities aim to prevent uncontrolled waste dumping in environmentally sensitive areas by offering these services. At the inauguration event, Blanca Pérez, the councillor for Natural Resources, Sustainability, Security, and Emergencies, emphasised the importance of this initiative in supporting sustainable tourism while addressing the needs of the caravan community.
Pérez noted that within the first month of opening, the facilities have seen over 166 users from Arona and Jagua. She highlighted the initiative as a long-awaited response to caravaners’ demands, providing modern infrastructure to protect Tenerife’s natural spaces.
The Mayor of La Guancha, Alejandro Herrera Luis, appreciated the new services, stating they benefit not only local residents but also surrounding areas. Caravaning associations expressed gratitude for the service, calling it an important advancement for caravan users in the region.
The Cabildo plans to expand these services across all municipal clean points on the island, ensuring facilities for the disposal of grey and black water and the supply of drinking water are available. The facilities in La Guancha, Jagua, and Arona operate Monday to Sunday, with varying hours to accommodate users.
