Outdoor Cinema Event Draws Over 200 in Famara Despite Theft Incident
An outdoor cinema session in Famara yesterday evening attracted more than 200 attendees for a screening of Hormigaz, underscoring the success of the Summer 2026 Cine Ambulante project across Lanzarote.
The back of the Famara Teleclub transformed into an open-air cinema, fostering a warm and inclusive atmosphere that celebrated community, summer, and film in public spaces.
However, the event was marred by the theft of a backup generator belonging to Tenique Cultural. Thankfully, this incident did not disrupt the screening, which went ahead as scheduled to an enthusiastic audience.
Tenique Cultural expressed their disappointment over the theft, highlighting how such incidents can cast a shadow over what was otherwise a positive evening for the local community. They reminded the culprit that actions like this affect everyone in Lanzarote.
Despite this setback, the Cine Ambulante series will continue tonight in Famara with a screening of Ex Machina at 9 PM at the same location, with free entry until full capacity is reached.
