Fuerteventura Secures Weekly Flights to Heathrow for Winter 2026/2027
Fuerteventura has achieved a significant milestone by establishing its first-ever weekly flights to London Heathrow, with British Airways set to operate two connections per week during the winter season of 2026/2027.
This new route marks a crucial link between Fuerteventura and Europe’s busiest airport, enhancing the island’s accessibility for tourists, investors, and business travellers. Heathrow serves as a major gateway to the UK market, connecting Fuerteventura with numerous international destinations.
Juan Jesús Rodríguez Marichal, President of the Fuerteventura Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the importance of this development, stating, “Connectivity is not just about transport; it is a tool for competitiveness and economic growth. Linking Fuerteventura to Heathrow brings our businesses closer to new markets, encourages investment, and strengthens the island’s position in an increasingly global environment. This news goes beyond tourism and presents an opportunity for our entire economy.”
The Chamber acknowledged the efforts of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura and the Tourism Board in securing this connection. They praised the contributions of Tourism Minister Marlene Figueroa and Tourism Board Director Moisés Jorge, emphasising the strategic importance of their work for Fuerteventura’s future.
