Tenerife’s Agroganadera Fair Highlights Commitment to Rural Heritage
The Agroganadera Fair of Tenerife, known as FAGATE 2026, opens this Friday, 17th, at the Casa del Ganadero in La Laguna. This annual event has become a significant gathering for the island’s livestock community, promoting indigenous breeds, local products, and the hard work of farmers.
Valentín González, the Counsellor for the Primary Sector, emphasised the fair’s role in supporting rural traditions and biodiversity. He noted, “This Fair is a testament to our firm commitment to the rural world, especially livestock farming, which is vital for preserving biodiversity and bolstering the rural economy.”
FAGATE will attract livestock professionals, breeders, researchers, and the public over the coming days, all united in the mission to safeguard the unique genetic and cultural heritage that is a cornerstone of the archipelago’s primary sector.
González also highlighted ongoing support initiatives from the Cabildo, including funding aimed at enhancing farm competitiveness, promoting native breeds, and improving animal welfare. He detailed plans for modernising the Casa del Ganadero to ensure it remains a key facility for the sector, providing better resources and opportunities for livestock development.
