The Arrecife Council has installed information panels at taxi stops in the city to inform residents and tourists about taxi services available in the capital of Lanzarote.
This initiative, led by Councillor Mario González Altube, aims to provide direct information on journey costs and taxi tariffs. Under the leadership of Mayor Yonathan de León, the municipal government has strengthened efforts to improve public transport services, including taxis and urban buses. The department has introduced various measures, such as facilitating taxi driving permits to increase job opportunities, updating tariffs to address rising costs, and regulating taxi presence at the port during cruise ship visits to ensure taxis are available on those busy days.
Additionally, the Councillor for Tourism and Commerce, Eli Merino, has ensured the panels include tourist information about routes and attractions in Arrecife. Visitors can access this information through a QR code linked to the official tourism website, Arrecife on Tour.
