A woman had to be urgently evacuated on Sunday following an accident while hiking in the municipality of Los Silos, Tenerife. The rescue operation involved the air support of the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) from the Canary Islands Government to safely extract the victim.
The incident occurred shortly after 1:12 PM when the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES 112) received a call reporting that a person needed medical assistance after falling near Lomo Morín. Due to the impact, the woman was unable to continue her hike.
The emergency team was swiftly deployed. Rescuers from the GES helicopter reached the woman, provided on-site stabilisation, and carried her up to the aircraft using a stretcher.
Once rescued, she was flown to Tenerife North Airport. Upon landing, a medical ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) assessed her condition. The preliminary report indicated she had sustained a moderate injury to a lower limb. She was then transported to the University Hospital of Our Lady of Candelaria for further treatment.
