Teenager Injured in Diving Incident at Puerto del Carmen
A 14-year-old boy sustained a serious head injury after diving into water from a height between Playa Grande and Playa Chica in Puerto del Carmen on Friday evening. Emergency services were alerted just after 6.40pm, prompting a response from Tías Civil Protection volunteers and two ambulances from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC).
The boy received immediate medical attention on the scene from Civil Protection personnel and SUC units, including Basic and Advanced Life Support teams. After being stabilised, he was transported to Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital with a moderate head trauma.
Local police also attended the incident. Authorities remind beachgoers to take precautions in swimming areas, including checking the water’s depth and conditions before diving.
