A multi-vehicle accident on the GC-1 motorway near Telde has resulted in three injuries, including one person in critical condition. The emergency services in Canary Islands were alerted at 1:23 PM on Sunday after reports of a collision at kilometre 7 heading north.
Firefighters from the Gran Canaria Consortium freed a 45-year-old woman trapped in one of the vehicles. Initially assessed as suffering from severe multiple trauma, she was taken by a medicalised ambulance to the University Hospital of Gran Canaria Insular, where her condition is critical.
Another victim, a 79-year-old woman, also sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Doctor Negrín University Hospital in a standard ambulance.
A 54-year-old man was treated for moderate injuries and taken to the University Hospital of Gran Canaria Insular via a basic life support ambulance.
Traffic control was managed by the Guardia Civil, while road personnel marked the accident site and cleared the area.
