Tenerife’s Cabildo has announced a €15.2 million investment to upgrade the TF-180 road around Ofra to an urban standard. The project aims to start this year and is expected to take 24 months, benefiting over 10,000 daily drivers.
The works will focus on the section between the Cervecera and Vuelta de Los Pájaros. The plans include the creation of continuous pedestrian pathways with 1.8-metre-wide sidewalks on both sides.
The road will feature one lane in each direction, with a roundabout at the Ofra junction and the introduction of traffic signals and central lanes to better manage left turns.
Additionally, the proposal includes establishing about 100 parking spaces, including designated spots for those with reduced mobility. Improvements will be made to bus stops, new street furniture will be installed, public lighting will be enhanced, and green spaces will be created where possible.
The upgrade will also include a new separate drainage network to address existing rainwater drainage issues, designed to handle expected heavy rainfall over 50 years.
During the public consultation period, the Cabildo received 22 objections, addressing them with one fully accepted, 17 partially accepted, and four rejected.
