Lanzarote’s Safety and Emergency Consortium has held an urgent technical coordination meeting with representatives from various agencies and security forces. The main aim was to plan and unify the special prevention, safety, and emergency measures for the busy weekend of festivities across the island.
The meeting focused on the deployment of resources for the celebrations in honour of Our Lady of Carmen, which will take place simultaneously in several coastal municipalities and La Graciosa. These events traditionally draw thousands of residents and visitors for processions, parties, and cultural activities.
Attention was also given to contingency plans for Sunday afternoon when the World Cup Final will be held. This high-profile event is expected to fill terraces, restaurants, and public viewing areas.
Francisco J. Aparicio, President of the Consortium, emphasised the importance of this collaboration in ensuring a swift and effective response to any issues. He noted the significant number of large events planned and stressed the need for close coordination between the Civil Guard, National Police, Local Police, Civil Protection, and the fire service. The goal is to manage traffic and ensure both the religious and sporting events proceed safely and peacefully.

- Celebrate responsibly and follow instructions from security and emergency personnel.
- Avoid gathering in non-designated areas that could obstruct emergency vehicle access.
- Refrain from using fireworks or bonfires, particularly due to fire risks.

- If consuming alcohol, do so in moderation and avoid driving. Use public transport, taxis, or designated drivers.
- Protect minors and vulnerable individuals at crowded events and establish a meeting point if separated.
- Call 1-1-2 only in genuine emergencies.
- For group outings, set a specific meeting point in case of separation, and ensure children have contact details on them or wear identification bracelets.
- In emergencies or evacuations, walk briskly but do not run, avoid picking up personal items, and always follow security personnel’s instructions.
