A 70-year-old man has been hospitalised in a serious condition after nearly drowning at Los Cristianos beach in Arona, Tenerife, on Friday. The incident occurred around 14:48, prompting an emergency alert to the Canarian government’s 112 Emergency Coordination Centre for immediate medical assistance.
Initial reports indicated that nearby beachgoers had rescued the man from the water. In response, the 112 operational room dispatched local police and two units from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC), including a medical ambulance and a basic life support vehicle.
Upon arrival, healthcare personnel assessed and stabilised the man at the scene. Despite serious signs of drowning, he was urgently transported by a medical ambulance to Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria for further treatment.
Local police assisted throughout the emergency response and initiated inquiries to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
