The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Council has scheduled pest control operations this week in the Salud-La Salle area, with interventions planned from Monday to Friday.
The work will begin in the Barrio de La Salud, where control measures will take place over two consecutive days. On Wednesday, the focus will shift to Cuesta de Piedra, followed by El Perú on Thursday, and Cruz del Señor on Friday.
The initiative aims to implement preventive treatments and monitor potential issues related to rodents, cockroaches, wasps, and other urban pests. However, the council has not confirmed any current infestations in these neighbourhoods, nor provided figures on reports received.
This week’s pest control schedule is as follows:
– Monday and Tuesday: Barrio de La Salud
– Wednesday: Cuesta de Piedra
– Thursday: Barrio de El Perú
– Friday: Cruz del Señor
The council stresses that these operations are essential for preventing and addressing potential pest outbreaks in public spaces. They complement additional measures taken following reports from residents.
To report sightings of rodents, cockroaches, or wasps, the council recommends using the SC Mejora app, which allows residents to submit notifications and track reported incidents.
Authorities urge the public to avoid actions that could attract pests, such as leaving rubbish outside bins or food scraps in public areas. They also advise reducing potential hiding spots for pests, particularly in areas with accumulated waste or abandoned materials.
The current pest control campaign is part of an ongoing effort to extend services across various districts in Santa Cruz. Municipal services will also respond to specific complaints regarding pest sightings, although this week’s activities are precautionary rather than in response to confirmed infestations.
