Over 80 Lives Lost on Derelict Boat Off Gran Canaria After 27 Days at Sea
More than 80 people are presumed dead after a migrant boat, known as a cayuco, was found drifting off the south coast of Gran Canaria. The vessel had left Gambia with 128 individuals aboard and had been missing for nearly four weeks.
Rescue teams discovered the cayuco on Thursday, revealing five bodies onboard and reports of numerous others unaccounted for. Authorities believe that many of the remaining passengers may have perished during the harrowing journey.
