The LGTBI+ association Lánzate in Lanzarote is set to host the third edition of the Proud Tapas Route in Arrecife, running from 1 to 30 August 2026.
This initiative is part of the Lánzate 365 project, funded by the General Directorate of Diversity of the Canary Islands Government. It aims to engage restaurants in promoting equality, increasing visibility for diversity, and combating hate crimes in the municipality.
Participating bars and restaurants are encouraged to create a tapas dish that reflects inclusive values. These dishes will be distinguished by their name, presentation, ingredients, or concept and will be available throughout August.
Guests can vote for their favourite tapas using a QR code, helping select the winners in various categories of the competition.
Nahum Cabrera, president of Lánzate, explained that the Proud Tapas initiative aims to raise awareness about diversity, combat LGTBIfobia, and encourage dialogue around shared meals. It also seeks to support local bars and restaurants and highlight the quality of local cuisine.
Interested establishments have until Sunday 19 July to submit their registration form, which includes details on the competition rules.
The Proud Tapas Route promises to blend gastronomy, diversity, and social commitment throughout Arrecife this August.
