Improved Road Safety for Cofete Ahead of Summer Celebrations
The Cabildo de Fuerteventura has upgraded the road to Cofete to enhance safety for residents and tourists visiting the area during the summer of 2026.
Improvements include the enhancement of rural paths, ensuring safer and more comfortable access for visitors. These routes will also be used during the upcoming procession in honour of San Juan, part of the village’s patronal celebrations.
Additionally, the traditional pilgrimage will feature a prominently decorated truck from Cofete, serving as both a lead vehicle and a transport for the saint.
José Cabrera Noda, Secretary of Municipal Policy for the Socialist Party, emphasised the need for a sensible discussion regarding the long-term repair of the Morro Jable to Punta de Jandía road and protective fencing, which should blend with the surrounding environment.
