Tenerife Chef Alberto González Brings Exclusive Menu to San Sebastián 57
Chef Alberto González Margallo, from the restaurant San Sebastián 57, will feature a special menu for the next two weeks, inspired by a gala dinner held in Monaco last month to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Monegasque diplomatic mission in Spain. Prince Albert II of Monaco was unable to attend the event.
The menu received rave reviews from Monaco’s elite, prompting González to include local Canarian ingredients for diners back in Tenerife. The restaurant is located on Avenida San Sebastián in the island’s capital.
The menu launch took place last Wednesday evening and was attended by several dignitaries, including Lope Afonso, the Vice President and Tourism Councillor of the Cabildo of Tenerife, along with Dimple Melwani, CEO of Tourism, and Carmen Pérez from the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Development Society.
Diners can enjoy dishes such as acorn-fed Iberian ham, Canarian cheeses, black potato salad with royal crab, ali-oli foam, and carrot air; papaya gazpacho with lobster and trout caviar; and slow-cooked suckling pig with apple purée and jus reduction. The dessert, named “Príncipe Alberto,” pays tribute to the Monegasque sovereign.
The wine selection features predominantly Canarian options, including LInaje de Pago Verde Lima, Bermejo Malvasía, Viña Frontera Louis Goudard from El Hierro, Olarra 2015 Gran Reserva from Rioja, and a naturally sweet wine from the Canary Islands.
Accompanying González to Monaco were two team members, José Francisco Plaza and Lucía Mendoza, along with Francisco Doblas, a co-owner of San Sebastián 57, who contributed significantly to the event’s success.
González expressed his gratitude to Monaco’s ambassador to Spain, Catherine Fautrier-Rousseau, for selecting his restaurant to showcase at this prestigious event, highlighting the strong ties between the two regions.
