Castellón Claims Impressive Victory Over Tenerife
Castellón marked the first anniversary of manager Pablo Hernández’s arrival with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Tenerife, maintaining their status as the only unbeaten team in Liga Hypermotion.
From the outset, Castellón dominated the match. They posed an early threat in the third minute when Camara missed a one-on-one chance against Tenerife’s keeper, Dani. The first goal came in the ninth minute when Córdoba assisted Suero, who set up Barri to score by sending the ball just inside the right post.
Tenerife struggled to respond, with Álvaro Cervera’s side failing to advance past the midfield. Castellón doubled their lead in the 23rd minute when Matías Orozco capitalised on a well-executed combination play to find the net, celebrating his first call-up to Colombia’s national team.
Shortly before the half-hour mark, Castellón extended their lead to 3-0. Íñigo Córdoba intercepted a pass and laid it off to an unmarked Camara, who scored easily. Tenerife only really troubled Castellón with a 34th-minute header from Gomis, which was saved by Matthys.
After halftime, Cervera made three substitutions in an attempt to turn the tide. Gomis had another chance to score but was thwarted by Matthys again. Castellón, however, continued to control the match and added a fourth goal when Juanjo Nieto delivered a precise ball to Pablo Santiago in the 64th minute.
The celebration at SkyFi Castalia reached its peak in the final minutes when Alberto Jiménez assisted Camara for a low shot that sealed the score at 5-0, ensuring Castellón remains at the top of the table for a third consecutive week.
