Astrid Pérez, President of the Canary Islands Parliament, met with Antonio Alarcó, the Deputy Ombudsman, in Lanzarote on Thursday to discuss pressing issues raised by local citizens.
Pérez sought insights into the areas with the highest volume of complaints, focusing on housing, healthcare, and social care concerns.
Alarcó confirmed that the institution is actively addressing citizens’ grievances and provided updates on outstanding complaints, some of which are still awaiting resolution due to pending reports.
He emphasised the efforts of the Ombudsman’s office in Lanzarote to respond effectively to public needs.
Pérez highlighted the importance of maintaining a direct line of communication with the Ombudsman to better understand citizens’ worries and ensure that the Parliament addresses key issues affecting the wellbeing of the local community.
