A 52-year-old man is in serious condition after falling several metres onto rocks at Tiritaña beach in Mogán, Gran Canaria, on Wednesday. The incident occurred around 12:17 PM, prompting an emergency alert to the Canary Islands emergency services (1-1-2).
Due to the difficult terrain, emergency workers activated a helicopter from the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) and fire crews from the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium to assist with the rescue.
The helicopter successfully retrieved the man and transported him to the helipad at Doctor Negrín University Hospital, where a medical ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service was waiting.
Medical staff treated the man for serious multiple contusions and, once stabilised, transferred him to Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria.
