Tenerife’s Second Environmental Volunteer Fair Set for November 7
The Cabildo de Tenerife and San Cristóbal de La Laguna City Council have announced the second edition of the Environmental Volunteer Fair, taking place on Saturday, 7 November, in Plaza del Cristo from 10:00 to 15:00. The event aims to showcase the efforts of over 50 organisations and institutions dedicated to environmental conservation and sustainability.
Blanca Pérez, the island’s councillor for Natural Resources, Sustainability, Security and Emergencies, emphasised that the fair gives residents a chance to learn about the ongoing activities of volunteer groups who dedicate their time to protecting Tenerife’s natural spaces. “Nearly 13,000 people participated in environmental volunteer activities last year, helping to restore degraded areas and protect biodiversity,” she stated.
The event will feature 30 stands, including contributions from social organisations, public administrations, and educational institutions such as the University of La Laguna. Domingo Galván, the city’s Environment Councillor, highlighted the importance of community involvement in preserving the municipality’s natural surroundings.
The fair will offer a range of family-friendly activities, including workshops, discussions on Tenerife’s biodiversity, and educational sessions on invasive species and climate change impact. There will also be opportunities for children to engage in learning through play at a dedicated area.
In addition to the main event, a Week of Open Doors will run from 1 to 8 November, offering conservation activities, environmental walks, and a focus on biodiversity protection across various Tenerife municipalities.
The fair’s theme aligns with the UN’s International Year of Volunteering for Sustainability 2026, underscoring the vital role of volunteers in achieving sustainable development goals while also aiming to reduce its own environmental footprint with measures such as carbon footprint assessments and waste management initiatives.
Attendance is free, and further information is available on the Tenerife Más Sostenible website.
