Rescue of Kitesurfer in Lanzarote

On Thursday, 10 September, firefighters rescued a kitesurfer struggling in the waters off Punta Mujeres in northern Lanzarote.
Emergency services received an alert around 7:30 PM that a sportsman was in difficulty. The strong wind and currents were preventing him from reaching the shore.
A rescue jet ski was dispatched by the Emergency Consortium, quickly locating the kitesurfer sitting on his board near La Garita in Arrieta. Fortunately, he was reported to be in good health.
Emergency personnel helped him onto the rescue jet ski along with his windfoil equipment and brought him back to the Punta Mujeres ramp.
