The Popular Party in Santa Cruz de Tenerife has urged Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez to implement changes to its council positions. They want Carmen Pérez to take on the role of party spokesperson and the first deputy mayor, which would replace Carlos Tarife, the current leader.
Bermúdez, representing the Canarian Coalition, has signed a decree outlining this new distribution of responsibilities within the council, where the Popular Party is a governing partner.
Under the reorganisation, Carlos Tarife will become the third deputy mayor, Zaida González the fifth, and Alicia Cebrián the seventh, while Santiago Díaz Mejías will no longer hold a deputy mayor role. The deputy spokesperson roles will be taken on by Tarife and González.
Most government areas will retain their current assignments, with the exception of Strategic Planning and Market responsibilities, which will now be assigned to Carmen Pérez.
Additionally, the decree updates the council’s representation on the Board of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with Pérez replacing Tarife as the council’s representative.
