The Arrecife City Council has awarded the contract for sunbed and umbrella services at El Reducto beach. Councillor for Beaches, Davinia Déniz, highlighted the high demand for these services from local hoteliers, who see them as an added benefit to boost occupancy rates during the upcoming autumn and winter seasons.
The successful bidder will manage these services until 31 December 2029, as stated in the contract announcement released by the council on Monday. The City Council noted that the Beaches Department initiated this process after obtaining the required approval from the Coastal authorities.
El Reducto beach features one of the largest accommodation offerings in Lanzarote’s capital. Both tour operators and hotel management have expressed their support for providing sunbeds and umbrellas at this popular Blue Flag beach.
This new service also benefits tourists arriving on cruise ships, offering them a spot to relax in the sun and swim, which helps increase revenue for local businesses along the recently renovated promenade near Fred Olsen Avenue.
The launch of these sunbed and umbrella services coincides with the start of the cruise season, with Arrecife expected to welcome 100 cruise stopovers before the year concludes, according to data from the Las Palmas Port Authority.
