Excitement Builds for 52nd Orvecame Isla Tenerife Rally
The 52nd Orvecame Isla Tenerife Rally will take place on 4th and 5th September, featuring 87 teams competing across nine timed stages. The event was officially launched today at the Cabildo de Tenerife’s Noble Hall, where organisers outlined the details for this exhilarating edition, supported by a dedicated team to ensure its success.
Organised by Rallyten Sport, the rally is part of several championships, including the AON Rally Championship of Tenerife, the Provincial Rally Championship of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and the Historic Regularity Rally Championship of Tenerife, alongside various FIASCT trophies and cups.
Key figures at the launch included Yolanda Moliné, the Cabildo’s Sports Councillor; Dámaso Arteaga, the Councillor for Roads; Francisco Negrín, President of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Automobile Federation; and Rally Director Julio Martínez, along with local officials, sponsors, and team representatives.
Moliné highlighted the event’s growing prestige, noting increased participation and institutional support, with sponsors like Orvecame and Cicar playing vital roles in the rally’s continuing success.
Race Details
This year’s route covers 100.04 kilometres of timed sections within a total distance of 358.70 kilometres. The stages include Tabaiba-Igueste de Candelaria, Porís-Arico Viejo, Icor-Fasnia, Arafo-Los Loros, and La Esperanza-Casas Altas, several of which will be tackled twice, promising an exhilarating viewing experience.
The first day kicks off with a shakedown at Cuesta Las Tablas, a 2.14-kilometre stretch in Candelaria, scheduled from 11:30 to 13:00. The afternoon will feature technical checks at the Santa Cruz port and an official starting ceremony at Plaza España at 18:45. The first competitive stage, TC1 Tabaiba – Igueste de Candelaria, is set for 20:00. The main event on Saturday starts at 07:30, navigating through various stages with regrouping pauses, and is expected to conclude with a podium finish around 19:45.
Teams will have assistance stationed at Avenida El Bicácaro in La Gallega, with administrative checks in Santa Cruz and technical checks at the port area.

Moliné praised the rally as a historical and traditional event deeply embedded in the island’s culture. She commended the collaborative efforts necessary for the rally’s success, emphasising safety throughout the event.
Arteaga spoke about the necessity of coordination among various safety agencies to maintain security during the race, assuring minimal traffic disruption.
Martínez expressed pride in the event’s significance within the Canarian motorsport calendar, highlighting a strong turnout and robust support from institutions and businesses.
Negrín underscored the rally’s role as a highlight in the annual motorsport calendar, promising a thrilling event with high levels of talent among participants and a demanding course.

The rally enjoys backing from the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo, and multiple local councils, alongside support from the FCA and FIASCT. This institutional endorsement is bolstered by private sponsors, enhancing the event’s appeal each year.
With 87 teams ready for action, five different competitive venues, and 100 kilometres of timed stages, the Orvecame Isla Tenerife Rally is poised to transform Tenerife’s roads into a motorsport showcase this weekend.
In a touching moment at the launch, the “Cañón Tigre” award was presented to renowned local driver Enrique Cruz, honouring his impressive career and connection to this rally, having claimed five victories in the event’s history. Cruz joins an elite group of legendary drivers who have made a lasting impact on the Orvecame Isla Tenerife Rally.
