Emergency services on Lanzarote and La Graciosa were called on Thursday to respond to a cardiac arrest incident involving a 68-year-old man on La Graciosa.

A witness alerted the authorities as the man suffered a cardiac arrest due to choking. Upon arrival at the harbour, emergency responders found a local police officer performing CPR. They used a defibrillator to deliver a shock to the patient.
Once medical personnel stabilised him, he was taken by ambulance to the health centre before being airlifted to Lanzarote General Hospital for further treatment.
