Teenager Arrested After Police Chase in Telde
A teenager was arrested in Telde on Friday for resisting arrest and disobeying police orders. He was also wanted by a youth court in Las Palmas.
Around 5:00 PM, local police responded to reports from passers-by about two youths riding an electric scooter recklessly and going against traffic. Officers located the scooter and stopped it, but one of the riders fled on foot.
Police began a search, and after briefly losing sight of the suspect, local residents pointed out that he had hidden under a parked vehicle. When police asked him to come out, he refused multiple times, prompting officers to use minimal force to remove him and restrain him. During the incident, he became aggressive, kicking and punching at the officers.
The minor was taken to a healthcare facility for initial treatment before being properly identified. Checks revealed that he was subject to a search order related to an ongoing investigation into a criminal matter.
He was subsequently arrested for resisting arrest and disobedience, informed of the charges and his rights, and the case was referred to the appropriate youth judicial authority.
