The National Police have shut down a drug dealing operation in the Zárate neighbourhood of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria following several months of investigation. A resident of the property has been arrested on charges of drug trafficking and is now in custody under a judicial order.
During the search of the premises, officers seized 3.85 kilos of cocaine, 15 kilos of hashish, and 162 grams of marijuana, along with €23,915 in cash. Authorities also confiscated a car, a firearm, two tasers, a baseball bat, and a balaclava.
The investigation began when police became aware of ongoing cocaine and hashish sales in Zárate. Over a number of months, officers conducted various inquiries, confirming that the suspect was using his home to store and distribute drugs.
Numerous consumers were reportedly visiting the property to buy drugs. The location had raised significant concern among investigators due to its proximity to educational, health, and sports facilities, as well as other places commonly frequented by children and families.
Once sufficient evidence was gathered, police executed a search warrant at the home, leading to the seizure of substantial amounts of drugs, cash, and other items.
The operation involved personnel from the Drug and Organised Crime Unit, Special Operations Security Groups, the Prevention and Reaction Unit, the Special Systems Unit, and the Canine Guides Unit.
The suspect, now identified as the alleged drug trafficker, was arrested and later appeared before a judge, who ordered his preventive detention.
