The Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s Official Bulletin has announced a new grant programme from the Tenerife Cabildo aimed at enhancing employment access and employability on the island.
With a budget of €1.5 million, the scheme will fund projects with costs ranging from €50,000 to €250,000. The grants are intended for non-profit organisations that will develop initiatives targeted at unemployed individuals.
This funding is not available directly to job seekers but is allocated to organisations that facilitate their entry or progression in the job market.
Eligible projects must target residents of Tenerife aged 16 and over who are unemployed or seeking to improve their job situation. They can encompass various activities, including information, guidance, training, and support for job placement.
The scheme prioritises individuals facing greater barriers to employment, such as long-term unemployed, over-45s, people with disabilities, migrants, victims of gender-based violence, those with limited work experience, and individuals at risk of social exclusion.
One key aspect of this call for projects is the funding amounts, with the Cabildo particularly valuing innovative initiatives that contribute to diversifying Tenerife’s economy and promote environmental sustainability, especially if directed at those struggling to find work.
The €1.5 million budget will be distributed across three main areas: €500,000 will focus on sustainable development and environmental conservation, €400,000 will support projects in the industry and energy efficiency sectors, and the largest allocation of €600,000 will finance initiatives providing services to individuals, leveraging creativity, culture, and heritage to generate jobs.
The aim is for social entities to create projects that meet the needs of those facing significant hurdles in entering the job market. Efraín Medina, the island’s Employment, Education, and Youth Councillor, highlighted that these social organisations play a vital role in supporting those needing extra assistance to secure employment.
The Cabildo initially unveiled this grant programme on August 14, with detailed administrative publication now clarifying the call for applications intended specifically to support employment activities conducted by non-profit organisations.
