British Airways Launches Direct Flights from Heathrow to Fuerteventura
From 13 December, British Airways will introduce direct flights from London Heathrow to Fuerteventura, marking the first direct connection between the island and one of Europe’s major hubs.
The airline will operate two flights per week, on Thursdays and Sundays, until 11 April 2027. This new service replaces previous operations from London Gatwick, providing a crucial direct link for travellers.
Fuerteventura is a popular destination for UK tourists, with over 418,000 British passengers visiting in the first half of 2026, a 1.43% increase compared to the same period the previous year, according to Aena data.
Marlene Figueroa, Fuerteventura’s Tourism Councillor, emphasized that operating from Heathrow represents a significant advancement for the island. She noted that this connection will enhance access for international travellers passing through London, solidifying Fuerteventura’s appeal in the European market.
