PSOE Leader Addresses Sosa Case Amidst Election Tensions
Raúl de León, the Secretary-General of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) in San Bartolomé, expressed confidence in María Dolores Corujo, Secretary-General of the Lanzarote PSOE, regarding the ongoing investigation into her involvement in the hiring of former Coalición Canaria member Juan Manuel Sosa. This matter, now with the Supreme Court, examines whether Corujo may have committed serious offences, including misappropriation of public funds and forgery.
Speaking on Crónicas Radio’s “A Buena Hora,” de León highlighted the political motivations behind the controversy as the May 2027 elections approach. He urged debate over accountability should be left to the justice system. “It’s clear this is a strategy to generate headlines against Corujo,” he said, adding that speculation about her integrity is unfounded.
De León dismissed allegations of threats made by PSOE members against Cabildo officials regarding this case, emphasising the need for evidence. “Claims must be proven, not just stated,” he asserted. “We are calm, allowing time and justice to reveal the truth.”
