Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has announced a procedure to refund waste charges to taxpayers. The initiative aims to assist those who have been overcharged for the disposal of waste.
Taxpayers can claim their refunds by submitting a request through the local government’s website or visiting municipal offices. Those who are no longer able to appeal their charges will also have automatic reviews conducted by the council.
For individuals who have decided to pay the charges in instalments, no further payments are needed for the time being. The council encourages anyone who hasn’t paid yet to hold off on payments until the refund process is clarified.
With this move, the local authorities hope to address concerns over waste fees that many consider excessive.
