PSOE Accuses Cabildo President of Judicial Pursuit
José Juan Cruz Saavedra, the Organisation Secretary for the PSOE in Lanzarote, has accused Cabildo President Oswaldo Betancort of launching a “judicial hunt” against the party’s island secretary, María Dolores Corujo. Cruz claims this is further evidenced by Betancort hiring an island director at a cost of nearly £75,000.
Cruz stated that the complaint filed by David Montes is fundamentally political: “This was merely the first step in a strategy aimed at undermining our candidate.”
He also outlined that the Insular Government’s decision to authorise Betancort to pursue legal action, with abstentions from the Popular Party and Armando Santana, clearly indicates a political operation aligned with the tactics of Coalición Canaria to implicate the PSOE leader in Lanzarote.
“Oswaldo Betancort is attempting to cover up his management failures by targeting our colleague through judicial means, manipulating the justice system for political gain,” Cruz concluded.
