Weather Update for Tenerife
This Saturday, Tenerife will see predominantly cloudy skies in the north with light rain expected, particularly in the morning. The State Meteorological Agency forecasts a cooler day inland, with maximum temperatures dropping more significantly in the mid and high elevations.
While the higher peaks will be clear, the rest of the island will start with some cloud cover before becoming increasingly overcast in the afternoon. Occasional light showers may occur, especially in the southeast.
In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, temperatures will range from 22 to 27 degrees Celsius, accompanied by a mild breeze from the north. The winds may pick up slightly during the early hours and again later in the day, especially on the southern slopes of the Anaga massif.
Minimum temperatures will remain stable across most of the island, with slight decreases possible in elevated areas. Coastal maximums won’t vary much, but inland regions will experience a more noticeable relief from heat.
Weather Conditions Across the Canary Islands
Similar weather patterns will affect much of the Canary Islands. In Gran Canaria, the north will see cloudy skies and light morning rain, clearing somewhat by midday. La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro will also experience light rain, particularly on northern slopes.
Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will have intermittent cloud cover and a low chance of light rain in the north and west during the morning, with the east seeing similar conditions in the afternoon. In the interior and southern parts of the eastern islands, temperatures could reach 30 degrees Celsius.
Afternoon Cloud Development
Cloud cover is expected to increase over the southern and southeastern slopes of several islands in the afternoon, producing occasional light rain, albeit mostly weak and localised. In Tenerife, the southeast will see the greatest chance of precipitation, while La Palma will be affected in the east and south, and La Gomera and El Hierro will see it in the interior and southern regions.
Winds and Maritime Precautions
Most of the Canary Islands will experience light to moderate northerly winds. Central Tenerife’s peaks will see moderate westerly winds. At sea, expect northerly or northeasterly winds of force 4 or 5, creating slight to moderate waves.
The Aemet advises checking updated forecasts before undertaking outdoor activities, especially in the north, where cloud cover and light rain may temporarily reduce visibility.
