Lanzarote Winery Wins Gold Medal at National Wine Competition
Bodegas Martinón has clinched a Gold Medal for its Martinón Blanco Seco 2025 at the 10th National Wine Competition for Small D.O.s held in Madrid. This prestigious accolade highlights the exceptional quality of Lanzarote’s wine in the national landscape.
The competition took place on 3rd July 2026 at Espacio Madrazo and showcased nearly 100 entries from lesser-known wine regions across Spain. The Canary Islands’ wine sector performed remarkably well, securing the majority of awards at the event.
The gold medal for Bodegas Martinón underscores the high standards of the island’s dry whites, which stand up competitively against other small denominations throughout Spain.
Jorge Rodríguez, president of the Lanzarote Wine Regulatory Council, praised the winery for its achievement, noting that the award reflects both the quality of local wines and the dedication of the professionals in the region. He emphasised the significant effort required to cultivate grapes in Lanzarote’s unique environment.
