Pig Fest Set for This Saturday in El Carrizal
This Saturday, July 11, the third edition of the Pig Fest will take place at the Parque del Buen Suceso in El Carrizal. Entry is free until capacity is reached. The festival, organised by Ingenio Town Hall, will feature four notable bands: Toreros Muertos, Barón Rojo, Hermana Furia, and Notajunto, showcasing both legendary and emerging rock artists.
The concerts kick off at 7:30 PM with Gran Canaria’s Notajunto. They will be followed by Toreros Muertos at around 8:45 PM. The energetic Hermana Furia takes the stage at 10:30 PM, before the iconic Barón Rojo rounds off the night at midnight.
Band Overviews
Toreros Muertos formed in Madrid in 1984 during the peak of the Movida Madrileña. Initially performing improvised acts at a bar, they quickly developed a unique blend of punk and pop with humorous lyrics. Their debut EP came out in 1985, followed by their first full-length album in 1986. After a hiatus in 1992, they returned in 2007 with a compilation CD and have since enjoyed a resurgence with performances in Spain and Latin America.
Barón Rojo, founded in 1980, is celebrated as a pioneering hard rock band in Spain. Their 1981 debut album, Larga Vida al Rock and Roll, was a hit, but they truly gained international fame with Volumen Brutal in 1982. Over the years, they have released numerous successful albums and toured extensively across Europe and the Americas.
Hermana Furia mixes powerful sound with a direct approach in alternative rock. The band based in Madrid launched their debut album in 2021 and has continued to garner attention with their energetic live performances.
Notajunto is a newer addition to the lineup, starting in February 2024. Comprising experienced musicians from the Canary Islands, they aim to establish themselves in the urban rock scene and have already gained a substantial following online.
