Yaiza Plans Major Infrastructure Investments
Yaiza’s Mayor, Óscar Noda, outlined several key infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing community wellbeing. These include a new library in Playa Blanca, the completion of the sports pavilion, the construction of a football ground, street asphalting in local villages, and the renovation of parks in Las Coloradas and El Golfo. Noda emphasised that sound financial management must translate into projects that meet citizens’ needs.
In May, the town council approved a credit modification to allocate €22.9 million from treasury surpluses to public investment projects. Noda confirmed that funding is now ready for bids on various initiatives.
Among the projects ready for procurement are the Playa Blanca library (€4 million), the sports pavilion (€4.2 million), and the football pitch (€1.2 million), which will include amenities like electrical installations and changing rooms. Other planned developments include a social club in Uga (€760,000), street upgrades (€2 million), and extensive improvements to the public park at Las Coloradas (€1.6 million).
These investments not only aim to enhance local amenities but also aim to stimulate job creation through public works, positioning Yaiza as a leader in Lanzarote’s development. The council is currently executing projects worth over €10 million, including improvements to the entry to Playa Blanca and various park upgrades.
