VOX Criticises Coalition for Backing Pedro Sánchez
Nicasio Galván, spokesperson for VOX in the Canary Islands Parliament, lambasted Coalition Canaria (CC) for expressing shock over ongoing corruption allegations linked to Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s government. Speaking on Crónicas Radio’s “A Buena Hora,” Galván described Sánchez’s administration as akin to a mafia and recalled warning nationalists about trusting him when they supported his presidency.
Galván highlighted that CC’s attacks on VOX stem from a lack of arguments, citing a recent clash with David Toledo as an example. He stated that Sánchez will cling to power to avoid legal repercussions, as losing his position would expose him to judicial processes concerning his party’s actions.
When asked about Venezuela’s recent earthquake, Galván expressed solidarity with the Venezuelan people.
Regarding possible snap elections, Galván suggested that Sánchez would hold on tightly to power, fearing the consequences of losing it. He argued that Sánchez’s government has a pattern of deceit, recalling past promises that have been broken.
Galván also challenged CC’s claims about being surprised by the government’s actions, asking whether they have forgotten Sánchez’s past misdeeds, such as releasing Catalan separatists from prison.
Addressing ongoing insults from political rivals, he stated that such behaviour reveals their lack of proper arguments, as they fail to prioritise the needs of Canary Islanders and Spaniards. He insisted that VOX will continue advocating for local priorities while dismissing the opposition’s insults.
Galván mentioned ongoing concerns about the treatment of healthcare workers in the Canary Islands, urging both CC and the regional government to take action to improve their situation. He described current working conditions as unacceptable, pointing out the burden placed on medical staff.
As discussions on the future of Lanzarote’s Insular Hospital continue, Galván affirmed that the facility must remain a top priority and not be jeopardised by politicking.
