Arona has ranked ninth in Spain for the highest number of holiday homes listed on digital platforms, with 3,976 properties advertised. This data is part of the latest statistics from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), which show that the Canary Islands overall maintain a strong presence in holiday accommodation despite a drop of 2,330 listings over the past year.
These figures, which compare May 2025 to the previous year, highlight Arona’s status in a region that remains the fourth highest in Spain for holiday homes. The province of Las Palmas ranks third nationally with 26,998 listings, while Santa Cruz de Tenerife holds the fifth spot with 21,358 homes.
La Oliva in Fuerteventura also features in the top ten, coming in eighth with 3,979 listings. Both Arona and La Oliva are popular destinations for holiday rentals, particularly in coastal tourist areas.
However, nationwide, there was a significant decrease in holiday home advertisements, with a total of 341,001 listings in May—down 10.7% from the previous year, marking a drop of 40,836 properties.
Despite this decline, there was a 3.4% rise in listings compared to November 2025, indicating a slight recovery in the short term with 11,237 more properties listed.
These trends continue to fuel discussions about tourism’s impact on housing availability in the Canary Islands, underscoring the ongoing pressures in areas like Arona and La Oliva.
