32 Dead and Over 700 Injured in Double Earthquake in Venezuela
At least 32 people have died and more than 700 have been injured following two powerful earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale in northern Venezuela. Delcy Rodríguez, the country’s interim president, reported these figures, warning that the toll does not yet include casualties from La Guaira, described as a “disaster zone” with numerous collapsed buildings.
In a televised address, Rodríguez stated, “We have reports of 32 fatalities, without including the figures that may come from La Guaira, and over 700 injured who have been received at emergency rooms in both public hospitals and private health centres.”
She highlighted that La Guaira is the most affected region by this unprecedented seismic event, stating, “We can say that La Guaira is a true tragedy and has become a disaster zone.”
