The work is set to take place over seven months and will be carried out in phases. During the first phase, the two escalators leading to the Avenida Tres de Mayo will be closed.

However, the escalators on the southern side of the station, nearest to the Auditorio de Tenerife Adán Martín, will remain operational, alongside the lifts available on various levels of the interchange.

Eulalia García, the island’s Mobility Councillor, acknowledged the inconvenience these works may cause and apologised in advance to users. She assured that information and signage indicating alternative routes would be provided throughout the construction period.

To assist the approximately 60,000 daily commuters, signage will be placed at various points in the interchange, detailing alternative routes, closed accesses, and the location of lifts. A temporary route will be marked from the main hall on level 0 to the different floors of the building. Users on level 2 who need to reach the tram stop must follow indicated paths that lead outside the station.

The project has been awarded to Schindler S.A. for €1.82 million, including VAT. It involves installing eight new escalators: four will replace the existing ones, while four additional escalators will enable movement between all levels of the interchange. The project also includes upgrades to the low-voltage installation needed to power the new equipment and adapt the infrastructure to meet its technical requirements.
