The Mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has announced the completion of road resurfacing and new road signage in key areas of the city, enhancing access to the airport via the LZ 2 route. This work was completed as part of the Fourth Municipal Resurfacing Plan, with ongoing upgrades to the Vía Medular planned for several Sundays throughout November.

To minimise disruption, resurfacing work will primarily take place on Sundays ahead of the busy Christmas shopping period at the end of November. The Vía Medular is a vital thoroughfare that connects several neighbourhoods, including Las Salinas, San Francisco Javier, and La Vega.

The area is also home to essential facilities such as shopping centres, the Insular Library, the Insular Theatre of El Salinero, and the Sports City of Lanzarote. Overall, the municipal government aims to improve the paving and road safety across Arrecife, having already resurfaced 400 streets, with plans to extend this to a total of 600. Upcoming projects will address roads in Argana Alta, Tinasoria, and Maneje throughout the autumn and winter months.
