The Cabildo de Tenerife has announced the launch of a new initiative aimed at supporting professionals in the Carnival and fashion sectors by applying artificial intelligence (AI) to their projects. The Centre for High-Performance AI for Designers will provide intensive training, consisting of 30 hours of on-site education and an additional 20 hours of one-on-one mentoring.

This training, which is free to participants, is co-funded by the European Social Fund Plus and the Cabildo de Tenerife, using resources from the Tenerife Scientific and Technological Park.

Unveiling the project on Tuesday, key officials including the councillors for Education and Employment, Efraín Medina, and for Innovation and Research, Juan José Martínez, highlighted the programme’s goal to enhance local talent and contribute to creative industries.

Participants will learn to harness AI across various stages of the creative process, from trend research and conceptualisation to production and marketing. The face-to-face sessions will take place from 28 September to 2 October 2026 at the CIFP Las Indias Integrated Vocational Training Centre in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, running daily from 3pm to 9pm.

The curriculum covers generative AI, tool usage, trend forecasting, and digital branding, aiming to provide hands-on experience that can be directly applied to real-world projects.

Medina stressed the importance of this initiative: “Technology is shifting the skills our professionals need. We aim to equip them with accessible tools for real projects that can create new opportunities.”

Martínez emphasised that AI can significantly enhance the creative potential tied to Tenerife’s cultural identity. “The island has vast creative talent linked to Carnival and fashion. AI opens new avenues for innovation that can boost our economic potential,” he noted.

Following the training week, participants will have about six weeks to further refine their projects with personalised mentoring tailored to their specific needs. The initiative includes optional workshops covering AI, automation, and productivity.

A total of 20 places are available, prioritising those residing in Tenerife who work in small to medium-sized enterprises or are self-employed. While the focus is on creative sectors, prior experience in AI is not a prerequisite.

Selection will consider professional experience and motivation to integrate AI into their work. Full details and registration can be found on the EOI official website.
