A 23-year-old man has been seriously injured following a traffic accident in San Miguel de Abona, Tenerife. The incident occurred on 23 August at around 14:44, when the emergency services received a call about a motorcycle leaving the road at kilometre 84 on the TF-28 provincial road.
In light of the situation, which involved a fall of approximately ten metres, a combined rescue operation was immediately launched. Firefighters from the Tenerife Consortium quickly arrived at the scene to begin rescue efforts. To reach the victim, they used an extending ladder to safely extract him from the bottom of the ravine and transfer him to medical personnel.
In terms of medical response, the Canarian Emergency Service deployed a substantial team that included a basic life support ambulance, a medicalised ambulance, and a helicopter. Upon arrival, the medical team assessed the victim, who showed signs of multiple serious injuries. After stabilising him on-site, they airlifted him urgently to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria for specialised treatment.
The operation also involved security and maintenance services. Officers from the Guardia Civil helped secure the area to facilitate both the rescue and the helicopter landing. They also conducted an investigation into the accident’s causes. Meanwhile, the Roads Service managed the signage for the affected stretch and cleaned the roadway to safely reopen it to traffic.
