Tenerife Council Allocates €1.5 Million to Support Employment Projects by Non-Profit Organisations
The Tenerife Council, through its Employment, Education, and Youth Department, has launched a grant scheme to fund employment projects initiated by non-profit organisations, with a budget of €1.5 million. This initiative aims to enhance employability and assist vulnerable individuals struggling to enter the job market.
Efraín Medina, the council’s Employment, Education, and Youth minister, emphasised the importance of social organisations in providing essential support to those in need. He stated, “We continue to strengthen our commitment to social entities that work on the ground. This initiative aims to provide real opportunities for training, guidance, and job placement tailored to the current job market.”
The grants will finance projects that offer information, advice, training, and job placement support for unemployed individuals aged over 16 residing in Tenerife. Priority will be given to those facing significant challenges, including long-term unemployed individuals, survivors of domestic violence, people with disabilities, migrants, and the over-45s.
Funds will be allocated to projects focusing on areas with growth potential. This includes €500,000 for projects promoting sustainable development through environmental care, €400,000 for sustainable industry and energy efficiency, and €600,000 for services, creativity, culture, innovation, and cultural heritage as pathways for job creation.
Grants will cover projects with budgets ranging from €50,000 to €250,000, particularly favouring those that introduce innovative approaches, contribute to economic diversification, support environmental sustainability, and target groups with significant barriers to employment.
