Canarian Brewery Gains International Recognition at World Beer Awards
Canarian Brewery has strengthened its international standing by winning seven medals at the recent World Beer Awards 2026. Regarded as a leading event in the industry, the awards celebrated five varieties of beer from the company: Dorada Sin Gluten, Tropical Con Limón, Dorada Sin Limón, Tropical 1924, and Dorada Especial Negra.
Organised annually by The Drinks Report, the awards involve a rigorous evaluation by global experts, establishing a benchmark of excellence within the sector. Roberto Martínez de Bustos, the company’s CEO, noted that this achievement highlights Canarias on the global beer map, positioning local production alongside well-established international brands.
Martínez de Bustos emphasised that these accolades reflect not just one year’s work, but the dedication and passion of their brewers over time. The use of high-quality, natural ingredients has, according to him, enabled the brewery to secure over thirty international awards in recent years.
The standout winners included Dorada Sin Gluten and Tropical Con Limón, both receiving gold medals and named absolute champions within their categories nationally. Dorada Sin Gluten, noted as Spain’s best of its type, is the first beer from the archipelago suitable for coeliacs. The jury praised its freshness, flavour, and alcohol content, akin to the original Dorada Pilsen.
Tropical Con Limón also received dual recognition, being crowned the country’s best lemon beer. It impressed judges by marrying the brand’s traditional essence with a low alcohol content and the zest of added lemon juice.
The brewery’s total of silver medals increased with two new awards. One went to Dorada Sin Limón, crafted from non-alcoholic beer and natural juice, praised for its balance of sweetness and citrus, making it a refreshing and easy-drinking option. The other silver medal was awarded to Tropical 1924, a celebration of over a century of brewing mastery. This German-inspired helles bock lager wowed tasters with its sophisticated profile and rich colour, resulting from the blend of caramel malt and floral hops.
The third medal, a bronze, went to Dorada Especial Negra, a dark, smooth beer celebrated for its perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness, resulting in an easy-drinking experience. With this latest award, the Dorada Especial family has secured 17 World Beer Awards over the past six years, demonstrating the brand’s consistency and commitment to quality ingredients.
In total, these seven new medals add to the 27 recognitions the Canarian Brewery has received at the World Beer Awards since first participating in 2020, affirming its careful brewing process.
