Gran Canaria’s Efecto Pasillo to Perform in Unique Symphony Concert at Sonora Festival 2026
Efecto Pasillo will perform an unprecedented symphonic concert on 18 October in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as part of the Sonora Festival 2026. The band, known for their vibrant music, will share the stage with the Orquesta Universitaria Maestro Valle and the Barrios Orquestados project, bringing together around 50 musicians to reinterpret their greatest hits in a charitable show. Tickets are already on sale.
The concert will take place at the Plaza de Santa Ana, marking one of the festival’s highlights. It coincides with the band’s 20th anniversary, which will be celebrated in 2027. They plan to present new symphonic versions of popular songs like “Pan y Mantequilla,” “No Importe Que Llueva,” and “Cuando Me Siento Bien,” with all proceeds benefiting Barrios Orquestados.
José Brito, the conductor and leader of Barrios Orquestados, emphasised that this collaboration between the festival and the band involves six arrangers, who have crafted orchestral arrangements for a dozen songs. “The orchestral treatment serves the work of Efecto Pasillo,” he noted, highlighting the challenge of combining the energy of a pop-rock band with the grandeur of a full orchestra while preserving the original music’s identity.
Vocalist Iván Torres expressed the band’s desire to create this type of project for some time. “We wanted to present our most well-known songs differently, and bring back tracks that called for a symphonic arrangement,” he explained.
Torres acknowledged that this experience will challenge the band, which is used to a rock-oriented live format. “The key will be to balance the orchestra’s prominence with the essence of the arrangements,” he remarked, referring to the adaptations as “magnificent.”
Rehearsals with the Orquesta Universitaria Maestro Valle will begin in early September, while Efecto Pasillo will join shortly before the concert to finalize details for what they hope will be a standout moment in their career.
Looking ahead, Efecto Pasillo is considering recording this symphonic repertoire for a future album, coinciding with their anniversary in 2027, aiming to deliver a fresh version of their most iconic songs to fans.
The festival will run from 16 to 18 October at Plaza de Santa Ana, featuring a range of artists over three days. While the first two days will be free, the unique symphonic concert by Efecto Pasillo will be the sole paid event, supporting charitable causes.
